Maximum amount of days that a Shaafi person can be a musaafir

Q: What is the maximum amount of days that a shaafi person can be a musaafir and read qasr salaah?

A: If a Shaafi musaafir intends staying in a town for four days or more, excluding the day of arrival and day of departure, he will be a muqeem and read full salaah. However if he intends staying for less than this duration, he will remain a musaafir.

ولو نوى إقامة أربعة أيام بموضع انقطع سفره بوصولهولا يحسب منها يوما دخوله وخروجه على الصحيح

( ولو نوى ) المسافر المستقبل ولو محاربا ( إقامة أربعة أيام ) تامة بلياليها أو نوى الإقامة وأطلق ( بموضع ) عينه صالح للإقامة وكذا غير صالح كمفازة على الأصح ( انقطع سفره بوصوله ) أي بوصول ذلك الموضع سواء أكان مقصده أم في طريقه أو نوى بموضع وصل إليه إقامة أربعة أيام انقطع سفره بالنية مع مكثه إن كان مستقلا (مغني المحتاج 1/ 365-366)
