Omitting Salaah in college

Q: I usually get dropped off to college around 9AM and by the time I get picked up from college, the time for zuhr and asr prayer are already passed. Is it sinful for me to not be praying those salah? Is it okay for me to make up for the missed salah by praying the optional rakats of Maghrib and Isha?

A: Do not make your Salaah qadha. Ensure that you perform each Salaah in its prescribed time. When the Salaah time enters, then where ever you are, perform the Salaah. Salaah is the most important pillar of Islam. The first thing a person will be questioned on the day of Qiyaamah will be in regard to Salaah. Severe grave warnings have been sounded in the Qur'an and Ahaadith for the one who forgoes his Salaah or performs it as qadha. Make sincere tawbah to Allah Ta'ala for missing out your Salaah and commence performing Salaah upon its prescribed time. You should also make qadha for all the Salaah you had missed.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
