Is it necessary for husband and wife to live together after nikaah?

Q: Is It necessary/compulsory for husband and wife to live together if/after they consummated the marriage (via having jimaa) and if they don't live together will they get sin?

A: After marriage, the wife comes under the care of the husband. She needs to understand that he is supposed to be her leader in life, and that requires her to be the follower. How can they be living independent lives after marriage. This goes totally against the teaching of the Qur'aan and hadeeth. The Qur'aan says that they either bond together with respect or separate with dignity and kindness.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
