Provident fund

Q: I am employed in the motor vehicle industry. Is it permissible to contribute towards a provident fund? The employer contributes 8% of the monthly salary, and 7,5% is deducted from my salary.

A: The provident fund contains the elements of gambling and interest. Hence one should refrain from it.

Q: What do I do if the provident fund is binding by law and there has to be some sort of contribution?

A: If it is binding then insha-Allah you will not be sinful.
