The difficulties man goes through is on account of his evil deeds

Q: A person was in very high debt, this debt was caused by all the interest that built up over time, hence he was in financial difficulty. Was this debt caused by his own greed or Allah is testing him?
A: The difficulties man goes through is on account of his evil deeds. Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'an "Calamities has appeared on land and sea because of (the deeds) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds so that they may return (to Allah Ta'ala and repent from their evil)."
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
ظَهَرَ الفَسادُ فِى البَرِّ وَالبَحرِ بِما كَسَبَت أَيدِى النّاسِ لِيُذيقَهُم بَعضَ الَّذى عَمِلوا لَعَلَّهُم يَرجِعونَ ﴿الروم:41﴾
