The difference in rank between men and women

Q:

1. People say that in Islam, women are held in very high regard, equal to that of men. Is this true? According to this verse: "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth." (Surah An-Nisa [4:34-44]

2. Can you please clarify me the conflicts of the Muslim Ummah today regarding the wearing of the veil (niqaab).

A:

1. In respect to the opportunities of drawing close to Allah Ta`ala, both are absolutely identical. As there is a difference in rank between the father and son, so too is the difference between a male and female.

2. We have not heard of a conflict between the Muslims. It is a motion that is coming from the kuffaar, forcing Muslim women to remove the veil, and unfortunately some gullible Muslims are supporting this, not realising that they are standing with the kuffaar against their own.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
