Keeping aggressive dogs as pets

Q: Is it permissible to keep a breed of dog that is inherently known to be aggressive. There is a growing trend for teenage boys and youngsters to keep pit bull dogs as pets. My son was recently viciously attacked by one recently and had undergone 3 surgeries as a result.
A: If someone keeps such animals then he should keep them in a well controlled and protected environment. If he does not do so then he is responsible.
