Definition of muraabahah and ijaarah

Q: Can you please explain what are the definitions of:

1. Muraabahah

2. Ijaarah

A: The shar'ee definition of muraabahah and ijaarah explained by the Fuqahaa is as follows:

Muraabahah is where the seller sells an item to the purchaser with a profit revealing his cost price to him.

Ijaarah is a lease contract where the lessee pays the lessor wealth for a benefit or service.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
