Whose responsibility is it to take care of old parents?

Q: Whose duty is it to look after the old parents; the sons or the daughters?

A: The responsibility of taking care of the old parents lies equally on all the children (males and females). If all males and females are wealthy, then they all will pay for the maintenance equally. If some are wealthy and some are not wealthy, then those who are not wealthy will contribute according to how much they can afford. As far as khidmat is concerned, then all children should make khidmat for their old parents.
