Hanging up pictures of one's deceased children

Q: A person just lost two sons in a car crash. She is putting up photos of them around the houses. What is the Hadith on this so as to explain to her?

A: Pictures of all animate objects are forbidden and haraam in Islam. You should explain to her that putting up pictures in the home draws the wrath of Allah Ta'ala, and causes the angels of mercy to keep away from such a home. Similarly, this will be a cause of punishment for the inmates of the grave whose pictures are hung up (if they had consented that their pictures be taken). She should immediately destroy the pictures and repent to Allah Ta'ala.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
