Sealskinz socks

Q: Are sealskinz socks permissible to wear and be applied the same ruling as leather socks. i.e. is one able to do masaah over these? Do they meet the criteria of not being tied to oneself by any elastic used to manufacture these?

A: The sealskinz socks that we have seen and showed other ulama are not suitable for masah.

Q: Mufti saheb answered that SealSkinz socks will not be permissible for masah. Please may I kindly ask the reasoning?

A: We had shown it to ulama abroad, India and Pakistan, and they felt that it does not have the required conditions. It is better that you refer to them directly. Darul Uloom Deoband or Darul Uloom Karachi.
