The meaning of Tawbah

Q: “Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allaah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allaah is Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful” [al-Furqaan 25:68-70]

Above saying from Allah that repent and do righteous deeds so if you repent do you also need to do righteous deeds sametime for your repentance to get accepted? Another way of asking is, If you just repent without doing righteous deeds, would Allah accept your repentance? or you have to repent
and also need to do righteous deeds to get your repentance accepted? Also how long do you need to do righteous deeds?

A: Tawbah means to express regret and remorse over one's sins and to make a firm resolve of not returning to such sins in the future. Hence if one verbally makes tawbah and does not intend changing one's wrong ways nor reforming one's life in the future, then in reality this is not called tawbah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
