Revoking a talaaq

Q: My husband and I are going through some rocky road. I would like to know another thing, he has already uttered talaak out loud just between the two of us, and it has been three months that we have been apart (not living under the safe roof). Do we need to have make nikaah again if we decide to reconcile?

A: If your husband revokes the talaaq within the iddat period, then a new nikaah will not have to be performed. However, if the iddat period terminates and you both wish to reunite, then a new nikaah will have to be performed with a separate mahr.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
