Q: The food products that I buy from the market contains a halaal seal where the word halaal is written in Arabic. Sometimes the word ‘Islam’ is written. Can I put these packets in the dustbin after writing over these words with a marker?
Q: I have a fabric cover on my Quraan for many years. It has become threadbare in some places. I want to change it. Can I add this old cover to my fabric scraps?
Also, as a child my mum had covered my Quraan first with paper and plastic wrap. When I remove it can I throw it away? I am confused as I don't wish to be disrespectful.
Q: The newspapers in our country contain Muslim names like Muhammad, the names of Allah which are used for a person etc. If I blot these names with a black marker in a way that it cannot be seen, after that can I use it for any other purpose (for example we use the newspapers for our cat’s toilet)?

If it’s a sin, how do I advise people not to throw them away because I feel people will be making fun of me?

Also is it permissible to give such pages for recycling? Also can we throw them out after blacking the names out with a marker?
Q: I used to read the Quran, fatwa webistes where Allah's Name was mentioned in the toilet. Sometimes I also cannot control myself and use the same cellphone that I learn about Islam to watch pornography. I read fatwas today that warns against both scenarios and I am afraid if I disbelieved due to those behaviours. More so, after reading that fatwa, which in fact also happened in toilet, I did not stop immediately and continued to read other fatwas to confirm if that fatwa is correct or not. I am frightened now and did I disbelieve and what should I do?
Q: I purchased two sets of books published by Dar-us-Salam publications, Riyad-us-Saliheen (English translation w/commentary) and Tafsir Ibn Kathir (English translation). After purchasing these I realized that Dar-us-Salam books have Salafi influence and I found some contradicting statements in one of the books. I have since stopped reading them all. What should be done with these books that preserves the honor and respect of the Quranic Ayaat and Ahadith contained within them?
