Landlord charging the tenant a fixed fee for electricity

Q:

1. There are three prepaid meters for electricity, installed on a property, the administration cost is for the landlords account.

Must the VAT cost also be carried by the landlord on the three meters?

2. A landlord charges seperate for the electricity for example rental is R6000 per month and he charges an average R1500 for electricity some months the electricity bill comes to a lower fee some months especially in winter the charges are far higher then R1500.

There are three houses on one property, one of the houses the landlord uses for himself. The electricity bill comes out on an average R5000 to R5500 per month. There is only one meter on the property. How does one calculate what each house is using as there is no way to find out what the exact charges are for each house. According to the shariah is this acceptable?

Working in a supermarket as one who picks and moves goods

Q: I would like to request a ruling according to the Hanafi madhhab regarding a student job at an ALDI supermarket distribution warehouse in Germany.

My main assignment involves picking fruit, bread, flowers and other ordinary goods. However, employees may occasionally be reassigned to a chilled warehouse area containing chicken and pork products, for example when colleagues are absent or another department needs assistance. My employer has explained that they cannot guarantee that I will never be assigned to this area, although most of my work is expected to involve ordinary goods.

The work is performed using a voice-picking system. I receive instructions to pick specific products and quantities, place them on a pallet, attach a label and move the completed pallet to a designated dispatch area. I do not sell the goods, interact with customers, receive deliveries or load the trucks myself.

According to the Hanafi madhhab, is it permissible for me to accept and continue this employment, and is my salary halal if I occasionally have to pick and palletise pork products as part of an otherwise predominantly permissible job?

Letting out cottages on one's farm to non-Muslims

Q: There's someone that wants to let out some cottages on his farm. The person is wealthy so they're not short of money and he has a high level of taqwa also.

His only concern is the alcohol on the premises. Is it permissible if non-Muslims use the premises and basically if they bring the alcohol, if they play music in the units, if they also cook haraam food, what's the permissibility of that in Islam?

Working at a cider mill

Q: I would like to work at a cider mill near my home. They produce apple cider, and the majority of their products contain alcohol. Only two of their products, which consist of pure apple juice, are halal.

Since I study Process Engineering, I would like to work there because the work is related to my field of study, and the experience I gain there could be very beneficial for my future. I also live close to the factory.

Please take into consideration that I live in Germany, where it is not easy to find a company in which all processes are 100% halal. The cider mill is also part of a large corporate group that mainly offers drinking water and fruit juices.

Would I be allowed to work there part-time?

Accepting a gift or working for someone whose income is haraam

Q:

1. If all of a person's income is haraam, can you accept a gift of dawat from such a person (i.e. you are sure that he has no halaal wealth or income)?

2. Can you work for such a person? The work you are doing for him is of a halaal nature, but he is going to pay you your salary from haraam money.

3. If such a wishes to purchase something from you and you are certain that the money he is paying with haraam money, will it be permissible to sell to him?

4. Will there be any difference in the ruling if the person (whose income is haraam) is a non-Muslim?

Receiving gifts from a person who works in the bank

Q: I would like advice regarding the following:

My father works in the bank and it's his only source of income. After finding out that interest is war with Allah Ta'ala, I decided to find a job and move out.

My question is, now that I have a job and moved out, all the stuff that were bought for me by my father what do I do with it? Do I give it away or can I still use it? My clothing, I have tools my father bought and basically everything I have is from my father, what do I do?
