Ishraaq and Awwabeen
Q: How do we perform these two salaahs: Ishraaq and Awwabeen?
A: Approximately fifteen to twenty minutes after sunrise, you may read two or four rakaats. This is called ishraaq.
After the two sunnats of Maghrib one may read six rakaats. This is known as awwaabeen.
عن أنس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من صلى الغداة في جماعة ثم قعد يذكر الله حتى تطلع الشمس ثم صلى ركعتين كانت له كأجر حجة وعمرة (قال) قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم تامة تامة (سنن الترمذي، الرقم: 586)
Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, "The one who performs fajr salaah with jamaat (in the musjid) and thereafter sits in his place remembering Allah Ta'ala until sunrise, thereafter he stands up and performs two rakaats salaah, he will receive the reward of hajj and umrah. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) thereafter said twice, he will receive the reward of a complete hajj and umrah."
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من صلى بعد المغرب ست ركعات لم يتكلم فيما بينهن بسوء عدلن بعبادة ثنتي عشرة سنة رواه ابن ماجه وابن خزيمة في صحيحه والترمذي كلهم من حديث عمر بن خثعم عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة عنه وقال الترمذي حديث غريب (الترغيب والترهيب، الرقم: 850)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, "Whoever performs six rakaats after maghrib without speaking of anything impermissible in between, he will receive reward equivalent to twelve years of ibaadat."
