Virtue of planting trees

Q:

1) A Darul uloom is collecting money to plant trees in the Darul uloom open space, what is the reward of planting a tree?

2) Is there any hadith regarding the virtue of planting trees?

A: The following hadeeth appears in Saheeh Muslim (#1552):

"No muslim plants a tree except that whatever is eaten from it becomes sadaqah for him, whatever is stolen from it is sadaqah, whatever the wild animals eat from it is sadaqah, whatever the birds eat from it is sadaqah and whatever damage anybody causes to it is sadaqah."

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
