Some questions relating to ghusal of the deceased

Q:

1. Can we wash the thigh of a mayyit (not the extreme private part) directly with the hand (without the gloves)?
2. Is it sunnah to clean the mouth and nose of the mayyit with the left hand while making wudhu?
3. Do I have to start the wudhu for the mayyit by washing the hand first or just by washing the mouth?
4. Do I have to make khilal of the mayyit’s fingers, feets , beard, ears, nape etc?

A:

1. The thigh is part of the satr. Hence it is impermissible to touch that area with the bare hands.
2. The mouth and nose of the mayyit does not have to be washed and cleansed.
3. After carrying out the istinjaa of the mayyit, one will make wudhu for the mayyit by commencing with washing the face. One will not wash the hands of the mayyit till the wrist, nor gargle the mouth nor insert water in the nose. However if it is known that the mayyit passed away in the state of janaabat, then the mouth and nose will be cleansed through rubbing wet cotton wool or any cloth inside the mouth and nose.

تنبيه لم يذكر الاستنجاء للاختلاف فيه فعندهما يستنجي وعند أبي يوسف لا وصورته أن يلف الغاسل على يديه خرقة ويغسل السوأة لأن مسها حرام كالنظر جوهرة (رد المحتار 2/ 196)

(ويوضأ) من يؤمر بالصلاة (بلا مضمضة واستنشاق) للحرج وقيل يفعلان بخرقة وعليه العمل اليوم ولو كان جنبا أو حائضا أو نفساء فعلا اتفاقا تتميما للطهارة كما في إمداد الفتاح مستمدا من شرح المقدسي ويبدأ بوجهه ويمسح رأسه

قال الشامي : (قوله ويبدأ بوجهه) أي لا يغسل يديه أولا إلى الرسغين (رد المحتار 2 /195-196) (الفتاوى الهندية 1 /158)

(بلا مضمضة واستنشاق) للحرج وقيل يفعلان بخرقة وعليه العمل اليوم (الدر المختار 2 /196) (الفتاوى الهندية 1 /158)

و لا بأس بجعل القطن على وجهه و في مخارقه كدبر و قبل و أذن و فم (الدر المختار 2 /198) (الفتاوى الهندية 1 /158)

ولو كان جنبا أو حائضا أو نفساء فعلا اتفاقا تتميما للطهارة كما في إمداد الفتاح مستمدا من شرح المقدسي (الدر المختار 2 /196)
