Delaying the rukhsati
Q: My question is I’m getting my nikaah done in dec and might get rukhsti in 2019. My question is how long it is allowed to keep a nikah before rukhsti any specific time period. Because I heard we cannot keep nikaah more than a year rukhsti should be done before a year.
A: Once the nikaah is performed, the boy and girl are halaal for each other. There is no restrictions whatsoever of any sort. The ruksati can take place at any time as it is based on convenience and ease. The ruksati taking place at an earlier or later time will not affect the nikaah in any way. However, it will be better if the ruksati is not delayed so that the husband and wife can begin living together and the purpose and function of nikaah can be fulfilled.
