Durood and Salaam majaalis

Q: I would like to find out why in some Durood and salaam majaalis the kitaabs are distributed and everyone follows, whilst in others such as at Madrasa Taleemuddeen no kitaabs are distributed? What is the reason for this?

A: Both these practises are correct. It is permissible for one to follow in the kitaab while the durood is being recited or merely say Ameen after it's completion.
