A: After meeting the wife for the first time, take hold of her forelock and recite the following du`aa:

َاَللّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِهَا وَ خَيْرِ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْه وَ أَعُوْذُبِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَ شَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْه

Allahumma inni as’aluka khairaha wa khaira ma jabaltaha `alaih wa a`oozubika min sharriha wa sharri ma jabaltaha `alaih

(O Allah! I ask You for the good in her and the good that You have endowed her with and I seek your protection from her evil and the evil that You have placed within her.) Thereafter, perform two rakaats salaah, with her following you and thereafter make du`aa to Allah Ta`ala seeking His help and assistance in the success of the marriage.

When sharing the bed with the wife, the husband should first make her feel comfortable and at ease by caressing her and holding her affectionately. Before the time arrives for intercourse, he should not engage her immediately. He should first start with foreplay to arouse her feelings. He should also wait for her to be satisfied and not separate himself as soon as he has satisfied himself.

Whilst engaging in intercourse, the couple should try to keep themselves covered with a sheet etc. and should not face the qiblah. It is also masnoon to recite the following du`aa at this occasion:

اَللّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَان وَ جَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا

Allahumma jannibnash-shaitaan wa janibish-shaitaana ma razaqtana (O Allah! Keep Shaitaan away from us and from the offspring You bless us with.)

The couple should not expose and disclose to others what they had done, as it is extremely immoral to do so as well as condemned in the Hadeeth.
