Alcoholic repenting and planning an umrah trip

Q: A family member who occasionally consumes alcohol had his last drink on the 3rd December 2018. He wants to reform, go back to salaah, Quraan and is planning an Umrah trip in January 2019. Please advise what ibaadah is accepted (salaah, dua, zikr, Quraan) if not when will his ibaadah start being accepted by Allah and when is the earliest he can perform umrah?

A: If he has sincerely repented and made a firm resolve not to repeat the sins, Allah Ta‘ala will accept all his ibaadat.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
