Seeking forgiveness for backbiting

Q: If I backbited about anyone then another person backbited about that person also, will I get punishment for that also?

If I backbited but if the other person did not backbite but said something that makes me very angry, does delete my backbiting because of making me angry?

A: You should beg Allah Ta`ala for forgiveness for your sin of backbiting and seek forgiveness for the one whom you backbited. And if he came to know of it then ask him for forgiveness as well.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
