Anger over seeing wife's ex-boyfriend
Q: My wife and I are married for 6 months. She showed me a photo in a newspaper today of her ex-boyfriend who was her lover many years ago. I feel angry. Was it necessary for her to do so? She says she wanted to be open with me. I feel it was not necessary because it has made me feel uncomfortable. I feel upset! What should I do?
A: The Hadith commands that one conceals his sins and seeks repentance from Allah Ta'ala. Your wife should had not revealed her past to you. Nevertheless you should educate her and be kind and compassionate towards her. Every person has a past. Just as you would like that the mistakes you have made in the past be concealed, similarly you should conceal her mistakes and forgive her.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
