Forgiveness for major sins

Q: If someone says "Astaghfirullah alladhi la ilaaha illa huwal hayyul qayyum wa atubu ilayhi" 3 times, Allah will forgive all his sins. Does that include major sins?

A: This refers to minor sins being forgiven. As far as major sins are concerned, it is necessary for one to make tawbah. Tawbah means for one to sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala by expressing remorse and regret in the heart for committing the sin. Similarly, one should sincerely seek Allah Ta’alas forgiveness and make a firm resolve to never commit the sin in the future.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
