Having relations with one's wife during her menses (haidh)

1. Is intercourse during periods haraam?
2. Can it be done using condoms?
A:
1. During the wife's menses, it is haraam for the husband to have relations with her. This is a major sin. If both husband and wife had relations, they both should sincerely repent to Allah Ta'ala and make a firm resolve to never repeat such a grave sin in the future.
2. During menses, it is not permissible for the husband to touch the area of his wife's body from the navel till the knee (including the knee) without any cloth in between. Hence, at the time of intimacy during the wife's menses, the area between the navel till the knee (including the knee) must be covered with a cloth. Apart from this area, it will be permissible for the husband to take enjoyment from other parts of the wife's body (i.e. above the navel and below the knee).
