Reciting Surah Faatihah and last ruku of Surah Baqarah after burying a person

Q: When the corpse is buried, one person stands at the head of the grave and recites Surah Faatihah and the other recites the last ruku of Surah Baqarah while standing at his feet. This is called (Talqeen) (indoctrination). Is it permissible to recite this?

A: This is not called talqeen. However this practice is established in the sunnah. The correct method of practising on the sunnah is that the beginning verses of Surah Baqarah (till المفلحون) be recited softly at the head side of the grave, and that the concluding verses of Surah Baqarah (from آمن الرسول) be recited at the leg side.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
