What should a person do if he commenced salaah during the makrooh times?
Q:
1. If I start a Salaat at the time of sunrise, zawaal or sunset and then realise the time, must I break the Salaat or finish it?
2. If it's the time of after Asr or after Tahajjud, must I break the Salaat or carry on?
3. Is it the same for fard and Sunnat and nafl Salaat in the two answers for above questions?
A:
1. You should break the salaah which you commenced at the time of sunrise, sunset or zawaal. However, if you commence performing the fardh of asr of the same day before sunset, then in this case despite the sun setting while performing the salaah, you should continue with the salaah and complete it and your salaah will be valid.
2. After subah saadiq, apart from the two sunnat of Fajr, performing any nafl salaah is impermissible. However, performing qadha salaah is permissible.
After performing the fardh of Asr salaah, it is permissible for one to perform the qadha for any missed salaah. However, it is not permissible for one to perform any nafl salaah in this time. Hence, if one commenced performing any nafl salaah in this time, then one should break it.

واعلم أن الأوقات المكروهة نوعان: الأول الشروق والاستواء والغروب. والثاني ما بين الفجر والشمس، وما بين صلاة العصر إلى الاصفرار، فالنوع الأول لا ينعقد فيه شيء من الصلوات التي ذكرناها إذا شرع بها فيه، وتبطل إن طرأ عليها إلا صلاة جنازة حضرت فيها وسجدة تليت آيتها فيها وعصر يومه والنفل والنذر المقيد بها وقضاء ما شرع به فيها ثم أفسده، فتنعقد هذه الستة بلا كراهة أصلا في الأولى منها، ومع الكراهة التنزيهية في الثانية والتحريمية في الثالثة، وكذا في البواقي، لكن مع وجوب القطع والقضاء في وقت غير مكروه:والنوع الثاني ينعقد فيه جميع الصلوات التي ذكرناها من غير كراهة، إلا النفل والواجب لغيره فإنه ينعقد مع الكراهة، فيجب القطع والقضاء في وقت غير مكروه اهـ ح مع بعض تغيير.
