Looking at one's stool after having relieved oneself
Q:
1. Is it a sin to look at one's faeces after having relieved oneself?
2. Is it permissible to look at faeces in the toilet if one suffers from piles and is looking for signs of bleeding, etc?
3. Is it true that if one looks at stool after defaecating, it can make a person lose their memory?
A:
1. No.
2. Yes.
3. According to some fuqaha (e.g. Allaamah Tahtaawi [rahimahullah]), looking at faeces is a cause of weakening one's memory. Perhaps this is acquired from the experience of the hakeems of the past.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
ولا ينظر لعورته ولا إلى الخارج منها
قال الطحطاوي: قوله: "ولا ينظر لعورته" فإنه خلاف الأدب وكذا الأولى عدم نظر أحد الزوجين إلى عورة الآخر وكما يندب له الستر يندب تغطية رأسه وخفض صوته قال علي رضي الله عنه من أكثر النظر إلى سوأته عوقب بالنسيان اهـ وقيل من أكثر مسها ابتلي بالزنا قوله: "ولا إلى الخارج" فإنه يورث النسيان وهو مستقذر شرعا ولا داعية له.
