Intention to make when helping others

Q: When we help others or show kindness towards others, what intention should we have? Shall we help others out of the goodness of our heart or help others because this is what God wants us to do? Do we get rewarded by God if we help others because its good thing to do?

A: When we do any good deed, whether helping people or showing kindness towards them, then we should do it solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala. One should remember that these actions are beloved in the sight of Allah Ta'ala, and through carrying out such actions one will gain the love of Allah Ta'ala and His proximity.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
