Hating the sin and not the sinner

Q: What is the shariah perspective about: hating the sin, not the sinner. Is it applicable in all contexts?

Example: When the sinner promotes his sins and believes it to be honourable and that he is entitled to advertise and perpetrate it, is it obligatory to hate such an illegitimate deviant?

A: Every mumin has imaan in his heart and on account of this imaan he is beloved in the sight of Allah Ta'ala. Though when he sins Allah Ta'ala is displeased with his sinning, but Allah Ta'ala still loves him, as Allah Ta'ala says in the Quraan Majeed, "Allah Ta'ala is the guardian of all believers".

Therefore, when we see a believer sinning, we should dislike his sin, but we should still have love in our heart for him and make dua for him. If we are able to speak to him and guide him towards the straight path, then we should do so.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
