Q: What is the penalty for pulling out hair by mistake in ihraam?
A: One will have to give a penalty. The details of the penalty are as follows:
If one had pulled his/her hair or scratched his/her head and three strands or less than three strands had fallen, then for each strand of hair that had fallen, one will have to give a handful of wheat or its equivalent value in sadaqah.
If one had pulled his/her hair or scratched his/her head and four or more strands of hair had fallen, then in this case, sadaqah will become waajib. Sadaqah refers to the amount of sadaqatul fitr.

فلو سقط من رأسه أو لحيته ثلاث شعرات عند الوضوء أو غيره فعليه كف من طعام كذا في الخانية ومناسك الفارسي وهو عن محمد (غنية الناسك صـ 257)
(قوله أو أقل من ربع رأسه إلخ) ظاهره كالكنز أن الواجب نصف صاع ولو كان شعرة واحدة، لكن في الخانية إن نتف من رأسه أو أنفه أو لحيته شعرات فلكل شعرة كف من طعام وفي خزانة الأكمل في خصلة نصف صاع فظهر أن في كلام المصنف اشتباها لأنه لم يبين الصدقة ولم يفصلها بحر (رد المحتار 2/556)
فتبين أن نصف الصاع إنما هو في الزائد على الشعرات الثلاث (غنية الناسك صـ 256)
