Imaam making intention for leading women in salaah

Q: Is it necessary for the imaam to make intention for the people behind him? Example if there's women in the jamaat, does he have to specify he's leading the salaah for women?

A: Yes, it is a condition in the Hanafi mazhab that the imaam has to make niyyat for leading the women in salaah for their salaah to be valid. The only exceptions where the imaam does not have to make niyyat for women are the salaah of jumuah, the salaah of eid and the janaazah salaah.
