Placing the right hand on the forehead after fardh salaah
Q: Is it sunnah to place the right hand on the forehead after fardh salaah? If it is, what dua or zikr should be read while doing it?
A: Yes, it is established in the Hadith that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) after performing his fardh salaah, would place his right hand on his forehead and thereafter pass it over his head while reciting the following dua:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنِّي الْهَمَّ وَالْحَزَنَ
In the name of Allah, the One besides whom there is no other deity, the Beneficent, the Merciful. O Allah, remove from me all worries and grief.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
وعن أنس بن مالك: أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا صلى وفرغ من صلاته مسح بيمينه على رأسه وقال: بسم الله الذي لا إله إلا هو الرحمن الرحيم، اللهم أذهب عني الهم والحزن.وفي رواية: مسح جبهته بيده اليمنى وقال فيها: اللهم أذهب عني الهم والحزن. رواه الطبراني في الأوسط، والبزار بنحوه بأسانيد، وفيه زيد العمي، وقد وثقه غير واحد، وضعفه الجمهور، وبقية رجال أحد إسنادي الطبراني ثقات، وفي بعضهم خلاف.
