Glad tidings in the mubaarak Ahaadith for a lady who had a miscarriage

Q:

1. I had a missed miscarriage at 8 and half weeks of pregnancy. I conceived at a late stage as I was blessed with nikaah much later in my life. I am much devastated with the miscarriage.

My question is, will the miscarried foetus go to heaven or it never existed (as if there was no rooh in it)?

2. Furthermore, I had a dnc done but after three weeks post procedure I'm still bleeding. Please advise on the process for salaah and Quraan.

A:

1. Just as there are glad tidings in the mubaarak Ahaadith for those parents who lose their children in infancy, there are also glad tidings for the parents in the case of a miscarriage.

In one hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "I take an oath on that being in whose hands lies my soul, the miscarried fetus will pull its mother by its umbilical cord until it will enter her into Jannah if she is hopeful for reward from Allah Ta'ala (upon the loss of her child and she exercises sabr)." (Sunan ibnu Maajah #1609)

In another hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, "The miscarried fetus will plead to Allah Ta'ala on behalf of his parents who are admitted into Jahannam. After pleading to Allah Ta'ala, it will be said to the fetus: “O fetus who is pleading with his Rabb! Go and admit your parents into Jannah.” The fetus will then pull his parents with his umbilical cord until he will admit them into Jannah.” (Sunan ibnu Maajah #1608)

Since these ahaadith are general, we hope that the glad tidings mentioned in them also apply to your situation.

2. If some of the limbs are formed, then the bleeding will be regarded as nifaas and the laws of nifaas will apply. During nifaas, it is not permissible for a woman to perform salaah, recite Quraan, fast, or be intimate with her husband. She is permitted to make zikr in this state. If no limbs are formed, then if the bleeding continues for three days or more, then the bleeding will be regarded as haidh and the laws of haidh will apply.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
