Reciting bismillah before ghusl

Q: If I forgot to say Bismillah before doing ritual bath, is my ghusl valid? Is Bismillah mandatory before ghusl?

A: Your ghusal is valid. Reciting bismillah at the beginning of the ghusal is not compulsory and is not a precondition for the validity of the ghusl. Reciting bismillah at the beginning of the ghusal is sunnat provided one's satr area is covered. If one's satr area is not covered, then one should not verbally recite bismillah. One may recite bismillah in one's mind.
