Hastening in performing the nikaah after a suitable match is found
Q: When a man sends a proposal for a woman, how fast should the nikaah be done?
A: The teaching of the Hadith is that when a suitable match is found for the girl, then the nikaah should not be delayed. Delaying in performing the nikaah leads to fitnah taking place. Many a time, the boy and girl get into contact with each other and many sins and vices thereafter take place.
Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, “If a boy whose Deen and character are pleasing to you proposes for your daughter, then you should get your daughter married to him. If you do not do so (i.e. you delay in performing the nikaah), then widespread corruption will occur in the land (through the boy and girl getting involved in sin).”
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
