Wearing pants below the ankles
Q: I have heard that Salaah is more makrooh when our trousers (pants) are folded up during Salaah? Please advise with the reference from Hadith.
A: The Hadith explains that Allah Ta'ala will not look with the sight of mercy towards the one who wears his trousers, pants, clothing, etc below his ankles. In one Hadith Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has explained that the portion below the ankles will be in the fire. This law (i.e. the prohibition of wearing the pants below the ankles) is not restricted to the time of Salaah. Instead wearing the pants below the ankles is impermissible during Salaah and out of Salaah.

وعن أَبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال لا ينظر الله يوم القيامة إلى من جر إزاره بطرا (رواه البخاري 2/861)
وعنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ما أسفل من الكعبين من الإزار ففي النار (رواه البخاري 2/861)
وإسبال الإزار والقميص بدعة ينبغي أن يكون الإزار فوق الكعبين إلى نصف الساق وهذا في حق الرجال ... إسبال الرجل إزاره أسفل من الكعبين إن لم يكن للخيلاء ففيه كراهة تنزيه كذا في الغرائب (الفتاوى الهندية 5/333)
