Earning money through playing football
Q: I would like to know whether money earned through playing football will be halaal or haraam?
A: Earning one’s income through playing for a team is impermissible. Apart from the contract being Islamically invalid, there are many other wrongs that are associated with these sports e.g. intermingling of women and men at the time of the match, the clothing being un-Islamic and revealing a portion of the satar, the sport being televised, the match being sponsored by a beer company at times, due to which one will have to wear clothing with their logo, and a host of other impermissible things which go against one’s Deeni principles.

عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه عن أبيه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال لا ينظر الرجل إلى عورة الرجل ولا المرأة إلى عورة المرأة ولا يفضي الرجل إلى الرجل في ثوب واحد ولا تفضي المرأة إلى المرأة في الثوب الواحد (صحيح مسلم، الرقم: 338)

عن علي رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال لا تبرز فخذك ولا تنظرن إلى فخذ حي ولا ميت (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 3140)
حدثني أبو سعيد قال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول لا يخرج الرجلان يضربان الغائط كاشفين عن عورتهما يتحدثان فإن الله عز وجل يمقت على ذلك (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 15)
