Will one become a kaafir if he does not perform Salaah?

Q: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) once said, that the one who leaves or abandons prayer is a kaafir. So what if one who has parents that are from a Muslim background, (practising or otherwise), has never prayed the 5 prayers out of laziness or other reasons, but believes in Allah and His Messenger; is he/she still considered a kaafir? I mean, will they still be Muslims, but only called non-practising Muslims due to them not praying? Also, what if they try to pray sporadically, but without wudu or without saying the prayer words properly or without intention, only to please others (while they still know this is wrong); are these people still considered non-practising Muslims, even though they still believe wholly in Allah and His Messenger? How is a Muslim defined in this case? The reason why I am asking this, is because I heard that because one has either left the prayer or has never properly prayed to begin with, is not even considered a Muslim, regardless of whether he/she believes in Allah and His Messenger or not?  Is this correct?

Following the Imaam in sajdah even if one did not complete "Rabbana Wa la kal hamd"

Q: When the Imam says Sami Allah Huli man Hamidah, I try to say Rabbana Wa la kalhamd. But before I finish saying it, the imam says Allah Hu Akbar and goes into sajdah before I have finished saying Rabbana Wa la kalhamd. In this case, should I:

  1. Stop saying  Rabbana Wa la kal hamd as soon as the Imaam says the takbir and goes into sajdah?
  2. Continue to say Rabbana Wa la kalhamd while following the imam into sajdah?
  3. Do not say Rabbana Wa la kalhamd at all knowing that I won't finish it in time before the imam goes into sajdah.

Slaughtering in the name of a buzurg

Q: I live in Jammu and Kashmir India. Here we have a tradition that whenever anyone is ill or has some problem or on the occasion of joy, the people make qurbani (zabiha) of a goat or sheep or any other halal animal and take that to a shrine (a sufi buzurg’s grave) and distribute it among people. However the slaughtering is done according to shariah in the name of the so and so sufi buzarg.

  1. Is it permissible?
  2. If yes, is it halal for everyone? Can everyone eat it?
