Women's Issues

Irregular bleeding

Q: I am a 29 years old woman. I never had a fixed cycle since I got baaligh. Sometimes I bleed after 35 days and next time after 2 to 3 months. Sometimes bleeding continue for 4 days and other times for 6 days. I never know when will I bleed. Bleeding always lasts between 3 to 10 days, means it is never less than 3 days and never more than 10 days. After it stops it never comes before 30 days, but may not come sometimes even for 2 to 3 months. During the days when I am bleeding it also happens many times that I bleed for 3 days, then it stops completely for 1 to 2 days and then again few drops will come sometimes during next 2 to 3 days. I had 2 children, first time nifas bleeding continued irregularly for 55 days stopping in between completely for 3-5 days and then starting again. Second time nifas came 4-5 days only and then 1 or 2 drops used to come sometimes in a day for 20-30 days. This 1 or 2 drops was not coming everyday but only once in 3-4 days. Till now what I do is when I see blood I stop doing namaz and roza and when blood stops I bath and do my prayer. In my second nifas after 5-6 days I started praying and I used to bath and continue with prayers after this drop of blood used to come. Kindly advise me what I should do in this situation during haidh and nifas both please regarding salah, saum and intercourse?

Irregular bleeding

Q: I am going through menopause so I do not have haidh. Two days ago (Monday) I noticed a red stain at fajr time and was completely clear for two days. I put this down to illness. Today (Wednesday) I have completed umrah, hair trimmed etc. however I have noticed a red stain again. However I am still not sure if this is haidh. What should I do? Please let me know ASAP.

Haidh problem

Q: A woman has not got her monthly haidh for more than a year. Two months ago, she had bleeding for 7 days only. She was then clean for 18 days. After 18 days she has been experiencing brown discharge continuously. It will soon be a month that she is in this state. How many days should she regard as haidh and how many days should she regard as istihaadhah? Please explain the ruling if she remains in this state for a few months?

Women driving

Q: I need advice. My father in-law has arranged for my wife and his other 2 daughters to go for there drivers licence, Masha Allah. Should he have asked for my permission to proceed with this arrangement, or he has the right to do this without my consent, and further more he arranged that my wife must come to his home in order to go for her lessons, and the mum will fetch her from my place and bring her back. I'm I wrong in questioning my wife, as to why she can't be picked up from my place instead, as I would like to know with who she's going.

Going to work in iddat

Q: May Allah reward you for the good work you provide for our ummah. My question is if a wifes husband passes away does she have to complete her iddat on the excuse of saving her job? The husband has left an amount of R130 000 in the bank account. Wife has about R100 000 in her account. Wifes father Alhamdulilah is quite wealthy and he only has two daughters. All in the family are working and earning. Its a government job. Sshe has the fear that if she stays on for her husbands iddat there "might" be a risk of losing her job. We do know that south africa is a freedom of religion country. We do know that if she does not go to work, there will be enough to take care of her needs in the four months of iddat. If she stays in after looking at all this is she still allowed to leave her iddat for her job?
