Lady teacher starting a math YouTube channel
Q: I am a lady teacher and I have started a math YouTube channel. I am using a digital pen for teaching so my hands and face are not visible in my channel. People can only hear my voice in the video.
Is such a YouTube channel allowed and is the income permissible in Islam.
A: Shariah has commanded women to remain within the confines of their homes and not to leave their homes except for a valid need. The reason for shariah commanding women to remain within their homes is so that they do not have any contact with non-mahram males . In this lies safety and protection for their deen and respect.
Through you teaching on YouTube, your voice will be heard by non-mahram males. This goes against the dictates of purdah and opposes the fabric of hayaa and shame. Hence, we advise you not to teach via this channel.
