Killing rats with rat poison

Q: Recently I came across a Fatwa on your website regarding the use of rat poison wherein it was mentioned that it is permissible to use. Perhaps honourable Mufti saheb is not aware of how it works. The way rat poison works is that after the mouse has consumed enough of the poison, it begins to slowly bleed to death internally. This causes a very long and very painful death, resulting in hours of suffering, this information can be found online.
I wanted to ask, despite this information, is it permissible to use rat poison to get rid of mice and rats? If so, what is the reason it is allowed?
A: Using this method is permissible. However, if there are other ways to exterminate them without causing them to suffer, then using those methods will be better.
