Sin for looking at pictures

Q: I know that picture making of all sorts are impermissible, but I heard someone say that even the Ulama that give the fatwa of impermissibility of picture making, still give jawaaz to look at digital pictures made by someone else on account that there is no Haraam involved, e.g. a man's satr being exposed or a woman being shown, etc.

Is this true? Please tell me as I am confused.

A: Even looking at the picture of an animate object is wrong. Deriving enjoyment through looking at haraam is also sinful. The following appears in Ad-Durrul Mukhtaar:

(وحرم الانتفاع بها) ولو لسقي دواب أو لطين أو نظر للتلهي

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
