Celebrating Spring day

Q: I would like some clarity on this matter. With the start of the spring season, we have been overwhelmed with *welcome spring * messages, status updates, adverts, etc.

My child attends an Islamic school, the school had a spring fun day. Children were required to wear colorful clothing, bring a flower, bring a picnic basket.

My query is, whilst I understand it is not Islamic, is it wrong to let our children participate in these activities.

Secondly, is it as innocent as it seems, or is there more background to it?

A: If this has any semblance with paganism and Greek deities etc. then this is totally incorrect. It must be abandoned. Even if it has got no semblance with paganism there is no basis for these types of practices in Islam.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
