Making salaam to Hazrat Husain (radhiyallahu anhu)

Q: Is it permissible to pray on a prayer mat which has written السلام علیکم یا ابا عبد الله یا حسین on it?

A: Making salaam to Hazrat Husain (radhiyallahu anhu) is the way of the Shias and not the way of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah. As believers, we should not emulate the shias in any way. Therefore, one should refrain from performing salaah on such a prayer mat.

Apart from this, this type of salaam written on the prayer mat is such that it has shirk connotations associated with it as one's aqeedah can be corrupted by one asking from Hazrat Husain (radhiyallahu anhu) or one thinking that he is present at the time when one calls him or one may seek goodness and barakah by making sajdah on his name. Therefore such a prayer mat should not be given to anyone but rather it should be destroyed.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
