Father correcting the son for missing salaah in the musjid

Q: On one occasion I missed Salah in the masjid. In this case I read it at home. I understand this is not ideal however if my father comes to find out about this he claims that I have a shaytaan in me. This is understandably upsetting to me.

1. Is it okay from a Islamic perspective for him to say this to me?

2. If so, what purpose does it serve?

A: If he is correcting you for you not performing your salaah in the masjid, then you should accept the correction.

Perhaps what he was referring to by saying that you have a shaitaan is that each person has an angel and a shaitaan with him as mentioned in the hadith.

The angel motivates him to do good, while the shaitaan entices him to do wrong.

When your father said that you have a shaitaan with you, he meant that you are obeying the shaitaan in you who is influencing you to miss your salaah in the musjid and suffice on performing it at home.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
