Q: The boys in madrasah were discussing, is it correct to leave out doing a sunnah because you are doing something which will help the deen? Example, like leaving out going to the graveyard for burial because you are studying or teaching.
A: Since they are engaged in fulfilling a farz obligation of deen ( i.e. studying deen), it will not be regarded as though they have abandoned the sunnah of burying the deceased, as other people are fulfilling this farz-e-kifaayah obligation.
However, if there is no one present to attend to the burial, then they should fulfill this obligation. Similarly, during their holidays or the days when they are not studying,( eg on Fridays), then they should participate in the burial.
