Q: With regards to the recitation of Quran, I have found two different hadith:
1. Quran should be read not less then seven days:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: Wahb ibn Munabbih said: Abdullah ibn Amr asked the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him); In how many days should one complete the recitation of the Qur'an? He said: In forty days. He then said: In one month. He again said: In twenty days. He then said: In fifteen days. He then said: In ten days. Finally he said: In seven days. [Sunnah Abu Dawood]
2. Quran should be read not less then three days:
Abd Allah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (Allah be well pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "Whoever reads the Qur'an in less than three days does not understand (what he recited)" Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa'i, Bhukari
I have the following question’s:
- How do we reconcile and understand the about two narrations that mentions 7 days and other as 3 days?
- Is there any authentic daleel to prove that Quran can be recited in less than 3 days ? Some people say to read Quran in less then 3 days is against the practice of sunnah.
- I have heard that many salaf have completed Quran many times in less than 3 day? How can we say authenticate this practice and such reports.
