Q: Is the virtue of making dua when seeing the Ka’bah Shareef confined to those who are in Makkah Mukarramah and see the actual Ka’bah Shareef directly (i.e. with their bare eyes), or is it also for those who see the Ka’bah Shareef in an image such as on the TV?
A: This virtue is only for those that are present at the Ka’bah Shareef and see the Ka’bah Shareef directly. This virtue is not for those who see the Ka’bah Shareef on the TV.
Note: It should be borne in mind that producing pictures of animate objects has been severely condemned in the Ahaadith of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
In one Hadith, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) mentioned, “Those involved in picture-making will be subjected to the worst forms of punishment on the Day of Qiyaamah.”
Hence, one should refrain from viewing pictures of animate objects (on the TV, cell phone, etc.).
